About Me

My practice, whether it’s supervision, training, or therapy is focused on supporting you, starting with building a felt sense of safety within the therapeutic relationship and yourself. Together we can work to explore, understand, and to shift the patterns of disconnection and protection to ones of connection and safety. I use an integrative approach with a variety of methods I’ve been trained in. It’s not just looking at the past, but learning to live in the here-and-now and beyond.

I began my journey working and training in attachment and trauma in a community mental health setting with a variety of children, adolescents, and families. With that experience, I have continued to specialize with ongoing education in trauma, complex trauma, neuroscience, and somatic techniques to integrate into therapy.

It is my honor and privilege to work with you on this journey we call life. I am passionate about helping people connect with themselves and find their worthiness. So much time is spent feeling the opposite that it takes time to undo our habits, patterns, and decisions but it can be done.

Integrated Trauma Therapy

Psychoeducation, skills and regulating resources
Trained by the queen of polyvagal deb Dana, 2018-2019

The science of safety provides a foundation for practicing in a trauma-conscious way. We’re working towards a felt safety and resiliency in the nervous system and I weave other modalities to reduce dysregulation and increase your capacity to hold joy and all the other emotions.

Processing interventions

When we are working with a specific activation, traumatic memory or sensation, we may use Brainspotting, EMDR, Bilateral Guided Drawing, somatic embodiment strategies, or a trauma-focused 5 step narrative. Trauma is held in the brain and body so a variety of processing options are helpful to address the symptoms, behaviors, and adaptations that continue long after the event(s) are over.

Neuroscience+

I seek regular education on the brain, body, nervous system, and even nutrition. There are so many facets to the relationship within that become disrupted with trauma [e.g. epigenetics, absorption of nutrients, feelings of worthlessness and shame] that ongoing education is necessary to help you understand the adaptations that have occurred. I may also use motivational interviewing, parts work, cbt, act, and movement practices.

HeartMath

HeartMath is based off of 34 years of scientific research on the psychophysiology of stress, resilience, and the interactions between the heart and brain. Utilizing heart rate variability (also used in Polyvagal Theory) in conjunction with special software, the goal is to support coherence through biofeedback therapy using heart-brain communication to regulate the stress response.

Safe and Sound Protocol

Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is designed to reduce sound sensitivities and improve auditory processing, behavioral state regulation, and social engagement behaviors through specially-filtered music. Rest and Restore (RRP) is designed to promote deep relaxation, recovery, balance in the body and mind, and connection to self, cultivating interoception and self-regulation.

This can be offered as a package separate from therapy. Ask me for package pricing and listen from home!

CCTS-I

This is an annual re-certification requiring proof of trauma-specific trainings to maintain through Trauma International and coursework originally obtained through the Arizona Trauma Institute.

Brainspotting is a tool I use most sessions.
